POSITION PURPOSE:
Partner with the board of directors to ensure the long-term viability of Voices’ mission, provide strategic, policy, and operational leadership, promote a positive and effective culture, and serve as the organization’s chief spokesperson General responsibilities include policy development, financial performance, fundraising, external relations, board relations, and general operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND TASKS:
- Provides leadership with the board of directors to create and carry out the organization's mission, vision, principles and strategic plan.
- Recruits, develops, empowers and holds accountable a committed and talented workforce of policy experts, advocates and support staff.
- Creates and maintains a positive culture which promotes growth, collaboration, quality and achievement of measurable outcomes.
- Develops and implements a marketing, branding, and communication strategy to promote the organization and expand its sphere of influence.
- In collaboration with partners and staff, establishes the organization's program and policy agenda, implements strategies to achieve policy goals, and measures progress.
- Creates systems, practices and culture which leverage the collective voice of board, staff, advocates, partners and members to impact positive policies for children.
- Stays current on national trends affecting children, best practice developments, and economic conditions to ensure that policies promoted are timely, responsive, and credible.
- Partners with board leadership to ensure a well-qualified, engaged, and effective board of directors.
- Develops, implements, and monitors fundraising strategies to ensure revenue needed to achieve agency goals.
- Prepares annual budgets and oversees fiscal operations.
- Ensures organizational accountability and compliance with all contracts, laws, rules, and other external requirements.
- Oversees all administrative and program activities of the agency and communicates policies and strategies to staff and board as needed.
- Represents the organization in business negotiations and contracts.
- Partners with the Public Policy Partners Advisory Committee to develop, communicate, and implement the agency's public policy agenda.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred.
- Progressive non-profit leadership experience, preferably within advocacy, public policy and/or associations.
- Demonstrated ability to engage, motivate and lead diverse individuals and groups toward a common vision.
- Strong operations skills including planning, program development. and resource prioritization.
- Demonstrated fundraising strategies and donor relations.
- An innovative leader who brings new ideas and promotes learning and growth of others.
- A data-driven decision maker who effectively integrates mission, values, human and financial considerations.
- Strong written, verbal and electronic communication skills.
- Strong public speaking skills.
- Ability to manage own and others’ time to achieve results within tight deadlines.
